Position Overview
As a Merchant Onboarding Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our operations, acting as the bridge between our company and new merchants. This position is responsible for ensuring a smooth and efficient onboarding process, verifying merchant information, assessing risk, and setting up accounts to enable transactions. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, ambition, and curiosity about their compliance career.
What You Will Do

Conduct thorough verification of merchant applications, including business model information, entity and ownership details, ensuring accurate and compliant entry of all required information.

Assess and analyse potential risks associated with a new merchant application.

Collaborate with the business development, account manager, and merchant support teams to address any issues or concerns during the onboarding process.

Provide merchants with clear guidance on the onboarding process, including required documentation and next steps.

Monitor and manage the onboarding pipeline to ensure timely processing of applications.

Stay updated on industry regulations and compliance requirements, and implement necessary changes in the onboarding process.

Develop and maintain onboarding documentation and training materials for internal and external use.

Offer feedback and suggestions for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the onboarding process.
Skills & Competencies Required

Strong understanding of payment processing, merchant services, and industry compliance requirements.

Solid knowledge of Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) principles.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a high attention to detail.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly across teams and with external stakeholders.

Highly organized and capable of managing multiple onboarding cases simultaneously.
